1916 Commemoration.

Ardmore Tidy Towns are engaged in a nice little project to celebrate the 1916 commemorations. We are endeavouring to publish the names of all the residents of Main Street during 1916. To achieve this we have enlisted the help of John Tierney of Eachtra and a member of The Ardmore Grange Heritage and local historians Tommy Mooney and Noel Rooney. Sheila Rooney is coordinating the project and Waterford Council is grant aiding us. It is by no means an easy task, but a most interesting one and we feel we will have a lovely little publication with which to mark the occasion and it will be a gem for posterity.

Main Street Ardmore was a very different place at that time and we will be relying primarily on the internet versions of the 1901 & 1911 census information for data as well as anecdotal information. If you have any old photographs of the street around that period or any knowledge relating to families who may have resided here, please do pass them on to us. All photographs will be returned.

Garden Bird Survey.

Each year we do different surveys to capture the pulse of the community on various topics. Over the past 6 or 7 years we have spent a lot of time, effort and money in raising awareness of the wildlife and biodiversity around us. And since our first venture into that field was the ‘Birds of Ardmore’ board it seems natural to us to survey the birds in our back garden to give us a feel as to what’s around and see how aware are we of it.
